MANX BASED ONLINE HOLIDAY WEBSITE HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY AWARDS “TRAVEL WEBSITE

Freedomtravelholidays.com developed, and based on the Isle of Man has been selected from thousands of travel websites in the British Isles to be nominated for the “Travel Website of the year”.

The 2009 Agent Achievement Awards will be held in London at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in April. The industry awards are awarded for different categories within the travel industry, one being the Travel Website of the Year.

FlyGlobespan launch Florida Winter 2008/2009

New Summer Routes from Leeds Bradford Airport

Jet2.com has launched its first flight to Hamburg from Leeds Bradford airport.

The airline is also launching flights to Madrid, Sardinia, Cyprus, Crete, Avignon, Jersey and La Rochelle from the Yorkshire airport.

Manx2.com reaches 100,000 customers

Manx2.com have announced that they have just reached a major milestone with the 100,000th customer having flown on one of the company’s seven routes from the Isle of Man.

The company now books customers on routes to Belfast (City and International), Blackpool, Leeds, Gloucester (M5), Nottingham East Midlands and Jersey.

“When we launched the business from scratch in July 2006 we offered three routes, and around 72 services each week”, says communications director, James Filleul. “That’s grown in less than two years to seven routes which have seen more than 100,000 passengers, and our new summer timetable offers at least 184 flights every week for our customers to choose from, and fares from just £15 (online single including tax)”.

Manx2.com has also just seen the fleet boosted by the arrival of a new aircraft, a nineteen seat Dornier 228.

New Easyjet Routes from Manchester and London Gatwick

Easyjet have launched new from both Manchester & London Gatwick to Mykonos and Montpellier. Weekly services to Ajacco and Bastia will also start from Sunday.

Manchester will also see flights to Malaga and a twice weekly service to Crete starting tomorrow.

FlyMonarch adds new winter destinations & Increases flight to the Canaries

Monarch has laucned its winter schedule from London Luton, London Gatwick, Birmgimhagm International and manchester Airports.

The 2008/2009 winter season will see a new winter service to Larnaca from Gatwick and manchester wilth three flights per week.

Also returning to the schedule is Manchester to Gibraltat with three flights per week and flying to Tenerife and Lanzarote has doubled from London Gatwick with even more flights from Luton, Birmingham and Manchester to the Canaries compared to the same time last winter.

Passenger Increase for Flybe

Passenger numbers for this May Bank Holiday are up by a fifth on last year.

Seat sales across the network were 19.5% up over 2007 and that the biggest increases were all within the UK & Channel Islands.

The most popular route is Belfast-Manchester, followed by London Gatwick to Jersey and Guernsey.

Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said the figures showed that travellers were becoming more aware of the benefits of regional airports.

Thomas Cook adds Skiathos and Hurghada

Birmingham International airport summer programme will see new direct flights to Skiathos in Greece and Hurghada in Egypt.

Frank Pullman, managing director of Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We have analysed demand for flights in the region and because we have a fleet of 42 aircraft, we have been able to adapt our schedule so that we can offer more choice with exciting new destinations."

Thomas Cook operates flights from Birmingham International to 36 destinations, including Alicante, Bourgas in Bulgaria and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.

Jet2 adds new destinations from Newcastle

Jet2.com has added Corfu and Rhodes to its growing number of services from Newcastle airport.

Rhodes will start on 04th June and Corfu follows on 30th June 2008. Both starting from £69.99 including taxes.

Philip Meeson, chief executive of Jet2.com, said: “Both destinations have lacked direct, scheduled and, importantly, low cost services from Newcastle and we’re delighted to be launching them.”

Low Cost Add On’s to Increase

Ryanair is raising cost of hold luggage and airport check from Monday (05th May 08).

Increases will see baggage fee’s climb up to £8 from £6 and check in fees will go up from £3 to £4.

The Airline commented to say that the charges are aimed to encourage passengers to check-in online, but it was widely seen as a move to offset the impact of rising fuel costs. Ryanair has warned its profits could fall as much as 50% this year.
